Find everything you need, from beds to storage, and create the perfect bedroom
Give the woman a home, and she will transform it into heaven. To be fair, even men have, over the years, acquired better tastes. But decorating homes is not that easy. Most people tend to furnish the drawing and the dining rooms, so that visitors get a good impression. The next in priority are kitchen and bathrooms. But bedrooms are where we spend almost eight hours of the day. A pleasant and convenient bedroom can therefore, make a difference between a good or bad start to the day.
Not all bedroom decors have to be expensive. But there is minimum bedroom furniture requirement. Since it is bedroom we are talking about, beds are a must. If you have a large bedroom, and ample money, you could go in for king sized beds. There are beds of different sizes and shapes. As the size of the bedroom gets smaller, the bed size can keep coming down right up to sofa bed or beds that can be pushed up into the wall. The beds may be traditional feather beds, or flannel beds. New alternates include sponge and water, apart from beans. The next requirement is that of side tables – one on either tide. This lets the person keep any drinking water on it and also any alarm clocks, and books. A small drawer or cabinet forming part of this side table can hold any tablets and other important documents if need be. A fireplace becomes a must in bedrooms where the climates can get really chilly. Likewise, an air conditioner is essential for hot summers. Therefore, room heaters and air conditioners need to be accommodated. There are mobile air conditioners as well. If the size of the room permits, a fridge has also been added in some bedrooms. These need to be accommodated somewhere, when they are not in use. This brings us to bedroom storage.
For keeping clothes, wooden cabinets or wardrobes are ideal. These may be built in closets or they may be the type that can be shifted elsewhere. Built in closets may be walk in as well, and can be used to store blankets, seasonal wears such as raincoats, extra bed sheets, pillow cases, towels, luggage bags, umbrellas, shoes, etc. They do save space, but it is the mobile ones that give flexibility of changing the room decor without much problem. For those who are just starting and cannot as yet afford much furniture, the third alternative is to have bags that hold clothes, and these can be hung behind the doors. These can also be easily transported from one city to another. A nice wooden chest of drawers with many drawers that holds all the undergarments, socks, handkerchiefs, gloves, mufflers, etc., also needs to be present in the room. These are smaller but essential things and searching them in the big wardrobe would be impossible. A safe is another thing that must be present in bedrooms. This is for valuables and cash. It should not look ugly. It may even be built in like the wardrobe or specified within the wooden cabinet.
A clothes stand becomes essential to hold coats and daily change of clothes. Depending upon the size of the room, dressers and nightstands may be selected. In addition a seating arrangement near the window based on the room length would be advisable. It is ideal for drinking tea and reading the newspaper in the mornings. But newspapers are on the way out, and Internet is in. Therefore, we need a computer table with proper chair at a proper corner of the room where we can’t really see the wires, and yet look out of windows to keep those eyes relaxed. This computer table is an addition to the large bedroom based on contemporary lifestyle. It does not override the need for some seating arrangement when and if visitors come to visit a busy person. Therefore, larger bedrooms also need to have a few chairs near the window. In slightly smaller ones a couple would suffice. And the smallest bedrooms can well do without such chairs or stools.
Ladies obviously would pay attention to bedroom vanity furniture, as they need to look pretty on every occasion. The place below the wardrobes can accommodate shoes. Alternately, a small shoe rack may also be added to the bedroom. A dustbin is a must in every bedroom. A fan, a pretty night lamp, good lights and a nice blending set of curtains complete the bedroom sets. Some decoration pieces on wall, and flowerpots can also add to the beauty of the room. Bedrooms of adults are normally painted in pastel colors, but even brighter pinks look nice.
Kids bedroom is less complex than this. It normally has beds or the bunker type of beds. In addition, there are tables and chairs that allow kids to do their homework. Like the adults they need computers, air conditioners, and room heaters. Their closet however, accommodates most of their requirements, as they do not need any storage space. They also need a cabinet to keep their books and play things.
